Work From Home
Work From Home
For the last weeks of quarantine, the work I've done for school is been mostly doing ESOL, Vocabulary Spelling City and a little bit of Mathletics. For ESOL we normally practice our vocabulary and English pronunciation. For Maths, I've been learning Place Values to Billions, Prime or Composite and Comparing Numbers.
Prime numbers have exactly 2 factors; 1 and itself. Composite numbers have more than 2 factors.
Comparing numbers are less than, greater than and equal.
< = Less than
> = Greater than
= Equal.

Maths Activity
Hi, On Monday we did Maths and learned about charts and graphs.our teacher taught us how to add graphs in a google sheet, like tally charts, pie charts and more things. He also taught us about Scatter charts. then after he explained how to add those things in. we then went on a google sheet and made graphs. We then also explored tools, charts and graphs around in the google sheet, he also gave us some examples of what the graphs and charts need. Then after everyone(most of us) finished the task we had to do we then played a game called guess the number.
Other things we learnt about: Column chart, Gauge and Annotated TimeLine. I really enjoyed doing these activities, it was very interesting making graphs and charts.
Healthy lifestyles and Maths
Health and Maths
For the past few days, we've been learning about Healthy lifestyles and maths. On Monday we were learning about Time Series data. Time-Series Data involves the weather around your area. It also is similar to graphs except a Time-Series Data are connected together and aren't shaped like squares. Then for our task, we had to make a TIme-Series Data ourselves and write down the temperature of each day of the week.
Here is an example of Time-Series Data ==>
Then on Thursday, we learned about how important Sleeping at the right time and waking up at the right time and how it affects our brains to be more active throughout the day. The right time to sleep at night is at 8 pm and the right to wake up is around.

Reading task
I really enjoyed reading a lot of these stories especially The Treaty of Waitangi, it's very interesting learning about New Zealand's history since I am a Filipino myself.
for the past weeks, we've been reading stories about Maori culture and learning about the history of The Treaty of Waitangi and what happened between the Maori and the Europeans. Then we learned about Mahinga Kai and what was happening before the Europeans came and long before Modern Supermarkets were built. Then we read about Nanny Peka which tells us what some of the healing Plants like the kawakawa, Koromiko and Ririma.
Overall the stories we read are.
- The Treaty of Waitangi.
- Mahinga Kai.
- Nanny Peka.
We also learned about a specific word called " Whatauki ". There are different meanings to the word like love, respect and leadership. But in my opinion, I think it means sharing the love those around you.

Hornby Athletics day
Hornby Athletics day
Yesterday was Hornby High's Athletics day.
I didn't participate in athletics day since I was absent.
CARR Values were clearly demonstrated by other students in the school by trying their best and participating in Athletics day even if they don't want to do a particular sport.
I did not demonstrate the CARR Values by not coming to school on Athletics Day.
I wasn't particularly proud of anything I did.
Next year I will definitely participate in Athletics day and try my best!.
and maybe there will be a particular sport that I would like to do.
CARR Values.
These Values are very important in HHS.
- Commitment -means your committing to a goal and never giving up and giving your best.
-Achievement - means you have achieved something that you are proud of.
-Respect - showing respect to other people even if you don't know them.
-Resilience - means Giving a go at trying something brand new and trying your best.
