Final blog post for drama

Final Blog post for drama

It's been 8 weeks of drama and we would like to share all of the work we have done in the past 8 weeks of drama.

First performance of drama
(Week 1)
Freeze Frame
Hi! My name is Zoe from Hornby High school today i will be talking about what we did on drama today. We did a freeze frame it's like the mannequin challenge but we had groups of 4 i was paired with Elisha Mae, Danielle and Nevaeh. Here are the characters we did Elisha was the child, Danielle was the Grandma, Nevaeh was the mum and i was the suitcase the moral was about a mum leaving somewhere else, i'll show you the picture of our freeze frame.

Freeze Frame meaning- a single frame that can be an action and sometimes emotionless.

Eating Healthy
second performance of drama
(week 2)

On Tuesday We did some Drama about Eating Healthy. This time we did a video instead of a picture to show you guys. i was with different team except Elisha Mae and Shreya. Our new team mate was Felicity she's really nice and funny it was really fun doing it we tried really hard and it was embarrassing. it's not good view but we tried and also theirs other peoples video as well.

Here's our and other people's work.

How to stay healthy and physical
(week 2)

Final performance
On Tuesday we did Hurumanu drama a video about How To Stay Healthy and physical and less lazy. first we had to plan what actions were gonna do, I was teamed Tasharn,Risha and we finally made an action about our video, the action was me sleeping for hours and Risha waking me up and trying to make me do 10 Star jumps and how to keep your body stay healthy and exercised.

Here is our video we made

( week 9)

Today on period 2 we did drama and my partners were doing a performance of exercising and how exercising helps you feel much more healthier and less lazy. my partners were Lily, Danni, Danielle and Meleana but i was in Esol so i wasn't in the performance and lily went to a trip.

Here is our video

Reading Drawings

 Reading Drawings

Share your drawings and reflect on the questions below:

1)Share a picture of the scientist you drew. Why did you draw them like that? I drew the scientist like that because when I watch movies and sometimes there are scientist i see lots of male scientist more then females but I also know that females can be a scientist too.

2)Share a picture of the principal you drew. How come you chose a female/male principal? I choose a male for the principal because our principal in Hornby High school is a male.

3)Share a picture of the prime minister you drew. What inspired you to draw a leader who looks like that? I choose too make a female for the prime minister because I wanted to make a female since the other drawings were males and also because our prime minister is a female.

4) What did you notice about all the drawings in our group? I noticed that male or female could be any of one of this jobs and nothing is wrong or right for male and female. What was similar or what was different? The similarity is that all of these drawing have a position and the difference is that they all have different jobs and different genders.

5) In your own words, what is a gender stereotype? I think gender stereotype means that someone judges you of like something they think is only for there gender.( Example: " Guy: How can a girl run a business).

6) Do you think that certain jobs or roles have a gender stereotype? I don't think that there's any difference between genders doing different jobs I mean they both work and both of the genders are equal.

7) Do you think older or younger children would draw the people the same way? What might influence their opinions or ideas? I think younger children might not cause all of our minds have different imaginations and I think older children would might make the same drawings because normally people this days watch television and watch on other gadgets and some watch shows that have like scientist or a high school show and for me when i watch high schools shows I normally see the principal as a male but I've also seen female principals too like school or rock.

8) Read this article. What did you find interesting? I found interesting abut this story that younger children drew lot of male scientist but once they were much more older they started to draw female scientist. Was there any points that bothered you? What bothered me was nothing.

9) If we did this again, how might your drawings be different? i would try to draw different genders not just males or females but both.

Home Chemistry - Crazy Crystals

Aim: To learn about a saturated solution and how to make crystals

Definition of solution
A liquid mixture, when something is dissolved into a liquid (eg: sugar in water)

Definition of saturated
Having or holding as much as can be absorbed of something (when no more sugar or borax can be dissolved into the water)

In groups of three you will make three different types of crystals and compare the results.

Borax Crystals

Image result for borax crystals

Ratio; 3 Tablespoons Borax per 1/2 cup water
Materials

1) Plastic cup and spoon
2) warm water
3) Borax
4)String and Popsicle stick to mix
5)Pipe cleaner

Process

Step 1: get a plastic cup.
Step 2: get some borax and add 4 tablespoons of borax into the cup.
Step 3: add  1/2  warm water to the plastic cup.
Step 4: mix them carefully until all of it has dissolved.
Step 5: get 4 pieces of a pipe cleaner and tie them like a star and tie it to the string hanging at the end of the string.
Step 6: put the string and pipe cleaner into the cup and make sure the pipe cleaner is touching the borax water( don't put the whole thing inside tie the string into a Popsicle stick and let it dissolve the water into the pipe cleaner.

Sugar Crystals

Grow your own Sugar Crystals
Crystal sugar is the hardest one to make so it might not work.
Ratio: 1 cup sugar to 1/2 cup water
Materials

1) Sugar
2) Plastic Cup and spoon
3) String
4) warm water
5) Popsicle stick

Process

Step 1: get a plastic cup.
Step 2: add 4 tablespoons of sugar into the cup.
Step 3: add 1/2 of warm water inside the cup.
Step 4: mix them together until all of the sugar is dissolved.
Step 5: get string and tie it tight to the Popsicle stick.
Step 6: put the string inside of the cup, leaving the Popsicle hanging on the cup.

Salt Crystals

Image result for how to make salt crystals

Ratio: 4 Tablespoons salt to 1/2 cup water
Materials

1) Salt
2) Hot water
3) Plastic Cup
4) Popsicle stick

5) string

Process

Step 1: get a plastic cup.
Step 2: add 4 tablespoon of salt into the cup.
Step 3: add 1/2 of hot water into the cup.
Step 4:mix the ingredients together until it's dissolved.
Step 5: tie the string tight into the Popsicle stick.
Step 6: put the string inside the of the plastic cup, leaving the Popsicle hanging out of the cup.

Findings

Describe your crystals in the table below.

Crystal Type
Shape
(Describe the shape)
Size
(of individual crystals)
Hardness
(Crumbly to Rock Hard)
Borax

the shape is kinda of like a snow flake it had a snowy texture.          small      Fragile
Sugar

the sugar one didn't make crystals        None      None
Salt

The shape was really spiky      miniature         Fragile

What crystals worked out best and why? The best crystal that worked out was the borax one. I think Borax was the best one, because Borax has different types of ingredients and it is the best to dissolve in water and to make crystals.

Conclusion: The Salt Crystals didn't really make a lot of crystals they were miniature sized crystals and it was really easy to break into shards but it was spiky. The Sugar one didn't make any crystals but it's not surprising Mr. Power told us that it was the hardest crystals to make. The borax crystal is definitely The best crystal. The crystals went to the bottom till the top it was small but much bigger than the salt crystal and definitely more then the sugar one, The shape was kinda like a star and a snowflake it was also really easy to break on the top but on the bottom it was hard. I especially think that the Borax crystal is the best one.

Explain how the following crystals are formed? the crystals are formed like a rock stuck togther with little rocks with different shapes

Type
                             Explanation
salt:

sea water, pond, sun, evaporates water.
Sugar:

sugar cane, chop it up, squish/roll, juice, heat, evaporates water,

sugar crystallise.

snow flakes:
dust, water freezes to dust, more water freezes to it.
